Emotional protection

The children state that they are continually accosted and chased away. They are even forced to bribe adults to be left alone, otherwise they are forced to leave the places where they sleep or camp out. In general, one can say that they suffer a sense of insecurity caused by the lack of safe and secure homes.

Girls who live on the streets suffer a lack of privacy. 83% of these girls have entered puberty, and 96% of them have to make do without toilet or bathing facilities. 61% of the girls living on the street are sexually molested and sexual crimes are common. The girls run a high risk of being sexually exploited and up to 17% end up in prostitution or other forms of criminal activities to ensure they survive.
